LES GORGES DE ST-AUBERT

There are places so protected that they can only be discovered on foot. For lovers of uneven and steep paths, this exceptional site is only accessible on foot thanks to the hiking trail 'GR36'. It is a grandiose and wild setting, with rocky and wooded slopes. Their belonging to the world of granite reinforces their deeply singular character, where in the river, blocks of granite are completely formed patina by the current. The ecological wealth of this part of the Orne valley is considerable; It is classified ZNIEFF (Natural Area of European Faunistic and Floristic Interest). The otter has reappeared there for a few years.
It is by a small dirt road that you will descend in the direction of the old village of Saint-Aubert.

Access : take the GR36 from la Trousserie (around 3 km).

LE VIEUX ST-AUBERT

This is an old village founded by the monks of Mont St-Michel, about 800 AD. The village belonged to the Abbey of St-Etienne in Caen which each year demanded that the villagers parade their pigs, so that their wealth could be estimated for tax purposes.

Nowadays you can picnic and see the remains of the old church and restored wells.
