The Township of Putanges is an area conducive to the breeding of horses. The rich lands of the right bank offer a greasy grass.

Neuvy au Houlme

The town is rich in stud because it in account three. On its 1557 hectares of land, more than 500 Ha are devoted to horse breeding.

Haras de Fresnaye le Buffard
:In 1919, Marcel Boussac creates an important racehorse stables and set up his breeding. Marcel Boussac will have achieved an impressive record including 6 wins including the Arc de Triomphe Prix, 12 in the Prix du Jockey Club, 5 in the Prix de Diane, etc.

More recently, the new owner, Mr. Niarckos, has brilliantly won 3 October 2004 at Longchamp on Arc de Triomphe with Bago.

Haras du Ribardon: property of Mr. and Mrs. Joel Hallais, he specializes in the trotter. The breeding has 30 broodmares, has five stallions including the famous Sancho Panza that is listed among the 40 best stallions. Installed in 1983, Mr. Hallais led his team topped the list of French teams in 2003.

Haras du Gazon
Perth (1896-1908) was born here. In the history of racing, Perth is the only horse who won all four races leading for three years Poule d'Essai, Jockey Club, Grand Prix de Paris and Prix Royal Oak.

Perth died at the age of 12 years old. Its skeleton was preserved; it is visible at the Haras du Pin. The Price Perth is a race that is dedicated to him.

Others commons

Haras de Rabodanges, Haras de l'Orne in Giel-Courteilles, the team Jeloca in Champcerie who also won many awards with Jelton, Kalin of Urga, Recit Jeloca and Keel Castelet, winner of the 2009 Normandy price.
